BECOMING A FOSTER CARER
1. Your initial enquiry
This can be done by telephone, letter, email, or via our website. We'll call you to speak to you about your enquiry.
2. Home visit
We will arrange to visit your home in order to talk about fostering in more detail.
3. The application form
You will be asked to complete an application form.
4. Checks & references
Reference and checks agreed to in the application form will be carried out - including DBS/ medical and local authority checks.
5. Assessment process
After about 6-8 visits to your home to carry out an assessment of your suitability to foster, a social worker will complete a report (the Form F) recording information about your household and your relevant skills.
6. Fostering panel
The Form F assessment report is presented to a fostering panel by your assessing social worker, and you too will be invited to attend.
